AENY - Spanish Artists in New York proudly presents PLAY LOUD! Chamber Music Festival in collaboration with Instituto Cervantes.
This inaugural edition is set to launch at the Instituto Cervantes headquarters in New York City, from December 9th to December 11th and comprises an eclectic program with three innovative ensembles exploring the intersections between music and story in their own particular way.
NEW VINTAGE BAROQUE
New Vintage Baroque is a vocal instrumental ensemble that explores the intersection of music, song, and story. Fusing together new commissions with music of the high Baroque, New Vintage weaves together verses, arias, and instrumental pieces to explore themes and characters through new perspectives.
On December 11th at 7pm, New Vintage Baroque will take to the stage of the Cervantes Institute in a celebration of “The Greatest Hits and Exploits of Don Quixote.” Heralded as the “Greatest Book of All Time,” by the Nobel Institute, the influence of Cervantes' novel has inspired countless reinterpretations. New Vintage looks at the cosmopolitan legacy of Don Quixote, performing works by composers from France, Germany, Italy, and of course, Spain. Featured in the program are pieces by Courbois, Caldara, Telemann, and a brand new composition by Doug Balliett.
